After-Hours Support
When your child isn’t feeling well, questions can come up even after the office has closed. Sweetgrass Pediatrics’ nurse triage line provides guidance after regular hours to help you decide what to do next.
Guidance When Your Child Isn’t Feeling Well
When your child develops a new symptom or starts feeling worse, it can be hard to know if care can wait until morning. Sweetgrass Pediatrics’ nurse triage line connects you with a nurse who will listen to your concerns and help you determine the next steps.
The nurse will ask when symptoms started, review relevant health history, and discuss any medications you’ve given. They may also ask about your child’s appetite, fluid intake, activity level, and other changes. Based on the information you provide, the nurse can offer home care guidance, recommend an appointment, or advise you to seek more immediate care.

In need of after-hours support?
Unsure what to do about your child’s symptoms? Our nurse triage team can talk through your concerns and offer guidance on next steps. Give us a call or complete an online support ticket to request a callback.
Preparing for Your Conversation
Gathering a few details before your call helps the nurse understand your concerns and makes it easier to share information about your child.
Please have the following ready:
- Your child’s name and date of birth
- When symptoms began, how your child is feeling now, and any changes you’ve noticed
- Temperature readings, including when they were taken and the method used
- Any medications given, along with the name, amount, and time of the latest dose
- Existing medical conditions and known allergies
- Changes in appetite, drinking, sleep, activity, or bathroom habits
If possible, stay close to your child during the call so you can answer questions about their symptoms and behavior. Keep a pen and paper handy to note the nurse’s advice, signs to watch for, and any recommended follow-up care.
