BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
Be prepared and confident for your baby’s first visit.
Your baby’s first visit is an important step in establishing care and ensuring a healthy start. During this appointment, your provider will check your baby’s weight, feeding, and overall well-being, as well as answer any initial questions you may have. Taking a few moments to prepare ahead of time can help make the visit smooth, comfortable, and focused on what matters most—your baby!
What to Bring to Your Newborn Visit
To help your baby’s first appointment go as smoothly as possible, we recommend bringing:
- Any paperwork from the hospital, including hearing screen results and immunization records
- Any available insurance information
- Feeding details or notes from your time in the hospital
- Plenty of diapers and an extra set of clothes
- Complete any Phreesia check-in forms prior to your appointment
- Take a moment to review our patient policies prior to the visit

Can I meet the pediatrician before my baby is born?
While we don’t offer formal meet-and-greet sessions, our team is always happy to help you learn more about our providers and accommodate expectant families. You can explore provider bios on our website, contact our office with any questions, or stop by one of our locations to get comfortable as you make your decision. How can I best prepare for my baby’s first visit?
Preparing ahead of time can make your first newborn visit smooth and stress-free. We recommend completing all check-in forms shared via Phreesia in advance and bringing any hospital discharge paperwork, feeding notes, and insurance information. It’s also helpful to write down any questions you may have so you can make the most of your time with your provider!

Sweetgrass Pediatrics accepts most major commercial insurances and state Medicaid insurance plans. You can view a list of accepted plans on our website.
