Kelsie Helton was born and raised in Conway, South Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the College of Charleston and then earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Kelsie worked as a pediatric critical care nurse at MUSC Children's Hospital and earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from MUSC. She is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Kelsie and her husband, James, became first time parents in 2021. In her spare time Kelsie and her husband enjoy traveling, going to the beach, spending time with family and friends, and cheering for the Gamecocks.
